"This verse puzzled some women in a Bible study and they wondered what this statement meant about the character and nature of God. One of the women offered to find out the process of refining silver and get back to the group at their next Bible Study. That week, the woman called a silversmith and made an appointment to watch him at work. She didn't mention anything about the reason for her interest beyond her curiosity about the process of refining Silver. As she watched the silversmith, he held a piece of silver over the fire and let it heat up. He explained that in refining silver, one needed to hold the silver in the middle of the fire where the flames were hottest as to burn away all the impurities. The woman thought about God holding us in such a hot spot; then she thought again about the verse that says: "He sits as a refiner and purifier of silver." She asked the silversmith if it was true that hehad to sit there in front of the fire the whole time the silver was being refined. The man answered yes, he not only had to sit there holding the silver, but he had to keep his eyes on the silver the entire time it was in the fire. If the silver was left a moment too long in the flames, it would be destroyed. The woman was silent for a moment. Then she asked the silversmith, "How do you know when the silver is fully refined? "He smiled at her and answered, "Oh, that's easy -- when I see my image in it. "If today you are feeling the heat of the fire , remember that God has his eye on you and will keep watching you until He sees His image in you.Michael T. Even though it was deeply painful to see my parents suffer, especially my Mom who had severe pain,I would never trade that time for anything. It was a great gift that God allowed me to care for her when I was able between work & caring for Mandie. There were many times Mandie & I would dash over to the nursing home to help my Mom, her "Granny". She treasures those memories of our last days with "Granny". We not cease to pray for you, Merrily, & your great kids. We know it is very painful & will continue to trust God to sustain you all. Please give our love to your family.
In Christ,
Penny & MandieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9124630000344239230.post-79431166236563662752008-11-02T14:24:00.000-05:002008-11-02T14:24:00.000-05:00Although we are perfect strangers, I read your blo...Although we are perfect strangers, I read your blog everyday. I just wanted the opportunity to Thank you. You are not only an inspiration but your words have comforted me beyond what you could conceive. My father passed away in June from Cancer, he was 54. The words and thoughts that you speak are the same words that went unspoken between my father and I. I pray for you and your family.
God Bless all of you.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9124630000344239230.post-57913285149683089692008-11-02T14:12:00.000-05:002008-11-02T14:12:00.000-05:00It's so good that you all are able to be together ...It's so good that you all are able to be together at this time. I'm praying for your family and I thank God for you. It's hard to know what to say because I have been down this path before, but in reading your words, it's different this time somehow. I don't know you guys, but somehow, I do. Some day I will be able to meet and hug you all and there will be all joy and no sadness.

Love in Jesus,
TerriAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
